West fork
« on: May 05, 2015, 08:27:20 AM »
sometimes its a simply wonderful fishery
to ketch crappie there fish under a float
3 to 5 foot deep in most cases
both species seem to be in abundance there

I think the west fork trinity  river system is under a consumption warning in that area below lake worth though
so ketch and release is the plan for me down there

Another productive trip I see. Sure is tough detecting a lite bite with a float in high winds. Well done as usual.

Must be tough to catch all those nice looking fish and not be able to keep a few to eat.

I can't imagine what it would be like to just have the chance and know how to catch as many as he does. I can assure you that my freezer would never be void of crappie if I had the ability.

one thing for certain I do look a few over down there and think its pretty  interesting they seem to look just fine
but so do the crappie I have seen from mountain creek lake
and the fisheries guys told me it will be around 50 years before those crappie are edible again !
so if they say don't eat em ...I aint ....
and even when they don't say don't eat em ...I am still kinda picky which ones I keep to eat or give away

I'm guessing it has something to do with the jet fuels and who knows what from the bases located at worth and mountain creek.

some of the things they mention I am not sure what they are
pcb is one known item
mercury I don't think so
and one thing is a pesticide left over of some kind
and its all over the map when you pitch jigs in it
there are days its as good as it gets
there are days when you would swear they aint a fish in it .... :LOL

I know the bass & cats hold those toxins more so than crappy..... I've seen a few ketch a few bass string'em up & take'em fer a ride to Crisco Lake..... I've been asked several times "do ya keep any" nope they're stress relievers only in my opinion..... guess it's a good thing they only ketch a few on'em & I hope they're not feeding their chillens those toxins.... seen one pregnant lady & her male companion take a few....not good for a fetus more so than a grown-up...
SOME GO FISHN, ME I GO CATCHN & ALWAYS FEED'EM A JIG CAUSE IT'S FASTER THAN CHASEN A MINNER IN A BUCKET!!!
HOPE YOUR JIGS STAY WET.....

REGARDLESS OF HOW MANLY YOU THINK YOU ARE WEARING YOUR PFD CAN SAVE YOUR LIFE.....

That's just normal fishing for me.  And the days when you would swear there isn't a crappie in the lake outnumber the good days.   :ROFLMAO

I don't think the average folks that fish the river have any idea about the fish quality
I try from time to time to tell folks
but they look at me like I am ....well you know  :ROFLMAO

A lot of people around here don't believe in science.  And they don't take responsibility for their own actions, placing the responsibility for their fate in higher hands.  I have had a lot of people tell me that God has a plan for them and if it is their time, then it is their time.  And the people you warn are not the only people who think you are ...well you know   :ROFLMAO

The advisor I got around 3 am said the Trinity should reach flood stage tonight sometime & they don't expect it to crest for a few days. They predicted flood conditions until the 16th so you're probably right, I imagine it's movin right along.
